As a salaried individual you might be contributing towards Employee Provident Fund, EPF. When you change your job you may want to transfer the EPF funds, which include employee's contribution as well as employer's contribution to your new EPF account. EPFO has made it very simple and you can do it online also without going anywhere. Big advantage of online transfer is that you can track it online and is completed in few days.
Eligibility: Who can transfer EPF online using Unified Portal
To be able to transfer the EPF funds online you need to be eligible for that. Below is the screenshot from the EPFO circular which states the requirements (Read Point 1 from below image).
- You should seed your Bank account & Bank IFSC Code details to your UAN (Universal Account Number). These KYC details should have been verified by your employer.
- Seeding of Aadhaar is optional for online EPF Transfer Claims.
- Your Date of Joining (DoJ) and Date of Exit (DoE) with reason for ‘Exit’ in the previous Company should be available on Unified Portal.
Below is the flowchart which you can go through to check if you are eligible for online claim or not.
