While filling ITR, you need to know your investments as well as return on investments. Investments are needed to claim under different IT sections like 80C, 80D, 80G etc. One concern for most of the mutual fund investors is to know Short Term Capital Gain (STCG) and Long Term Capital Gain (LTCG). Both type of capital gains attract different taxes which is explained in this blog.
You can get individual capital gain statement from all Assest Mananement Companies (AMCs). For most of the AMCs this option is available on their portal and you can get it online. If there is no online option then you can call respective AMC customer care no and get it on your mail. For DSP black rock, i didn't find option to get the capital gain statement online, so i called them and they send the capital gain statement immediately on my registered mail id.
All the Mutual funds are registered with either Cams or with Karvy. If you don't want to take the trouble to login to different portals to get individual capital gain statements then you can get consolidated statements from Cams and Karvy website. For Franklin Templeton, you need to get from their website.
It doesn't matter what is your mode of mode of investment - online, offline, through agent or demat account, you can get the capital gain statement online and that too with any cost.
Capital gain statement will have details of STCG, LTCG (with and without indexation). It will also have the TDS details which is useful for Non Resident Indians (NRI).
